Biscayne National Park!

Biscayne National Park is a great place to share a family adventure.

It is truly one of our favorite Florida state parks. We visit the park anywhere from 6 to 8 times a year.

It has a very pleasant walk from the visitor center out to the end of the jetty. It also has a wonderful picnic area that we take advantage of regularly!

Because most of the park underwater, the only way to access the biggest part of it is by boat. If you didn't happen to pack your boat, the park's concessionaire offers guided trips.

Within the visitor center you will have access to most of the amenities you will need including a store.

The Park offers snorkeling, diving, canoeing and kayaking. Hiking and camping are available on Elliott Key. Fishing is also allowed and is very popular at Biscayne.

“We deeply need the humility to know ourselves as dependent members of a great community of life, and this can indeed be one of the spiritual benefits of a wilderness experience.”
- Howard Zahnhiser

Interesting Tidbit!

In 2001, scientists taking a plant inventory in Biscayne National Park discovered a population of semaphore pricklypear cactus, one of the world's rarest plants. Previously known as only 9 plants in the lower Florida Keys, the new population numbered 570 plants...over 60 times the previous count. - from nps.gov

Wildlife abounds at the Park. The coral, birds and butterflies, manatee, and over 500 species of fish are yours to explore. Make sure you bring your camera and remember, take only memories, leave only footprints.
